Guadalmina South Golf Course

There are wide fairways winding between stands of pine and jacaranda trees. Guadalmina Sur Golf Course is one of the coast's oldest.

Considered the more difficult of Guadalmina's 45 holes, it is the Costa del Sol's second oldest golf course. The raised greens are an encouragement to attack the pin. Henry Cotton named the long seventh hole Tipperary as it's a long way to go! At the fifteenth there is a bunker waiting to catch anything that falls short and from the tee, tunnel vision is an advantage in order to successfully drive between two stands of tall pine.

Guadalmina North Golf Course

Lakes, streams, fountains and the river Rio Guadalmina combine to make golf at Guadalmina Norte a very refreshing experience.

Guadalmina now has a total of 45 golf holes, two 18 hole courses and a new nine hole pitch and putt. Considered less difficult than the South Course, it was designed by Folco Nardi and opened in 1975. At the 11th you drive over a small lake and a fountain placed just before the green whilst at the par 4 17th the river comes into play. Most competitions are played on the North Course.

Los Arqueros Golf Course

An exciting course winding through two valleys that offer impressive views down to the coast.

Designed by Ballesteros in 1991, the course appeals to attacking players prepared to make bold shots. Not very long, but sometimes tight with hazards constantly in play, which may lead to overcaution. Since its purchase by the Taylor Woodrow construction group, heavy investment has been made to improve course conditioning and remove the unfair punishment of slightly mishit shots.Visible from the Ronda road.

Atalaya Old Course

Pleasant, flat parkland course with many bunkers, wide fairways and elevated greens.

While the experts might find the challenge a little limited, the average club golfer will certainly find it quite enough to handle as the greens are sharply contoured and quick. Without attaining the standard of some of the other courses in the region, Atalaya has enough going for it to warrant a visit - as its enduring popularity since 1968 will testify.

Atalaya represents good value for money.

Atalaya Rosner Golf Course

A pleasure for the most demanding golfer, Atalaya Rosner Golf Course requires accuracy off the tee and a steady putter on the green.

Although deceptive at the beginning among the wide flat fairways, Atalya Rosner soon shows its teeth by rising into the foothills and winding inland towards Ronda. The return leg offers golfers a gentle wander down the fairways of the older course to the chalet style clubhouse.

Aloha Golf Course

Large and guarded greens at the Aloha Golf Course offer a good challenge and the varied vegetation make each hole different.

This is one of the best known golf courses on the Costa del Sol which has benefited from improvements over recent years. Fairways have been replanted and the clubhouse and changing rooms refurbished. If you hit straight and manage to stay on the ample fairways you'll be safe.

The Marbella Golf Club

Once very private but now open to visitors, The Golf Club Marbella is a difficult but enjoyable challenge.

Designed by Robert Trent Jones it is a long golf course with opening holes crossed by ravines and gulleys which require accurate and brave teeshots. The 4th hole, a par 3, is just tee and green, while everything in between is bandit country. The 12th is a sheer pleasure with memorable sea views.
